Update on Recent Adoptee, Buster!

Buster was adopted just last month, in May. 

"He's doing well . We let him off leash in the yard to play ball and "frisbee" and he's good about staying around. We need to get the invisible fence system going though because if he sees someone walking or jogging by or another dog, he's off to greet them! He's learned to stay off the furniture/beds and mostly doesn't jump up on his family members but we're still working on his manners with strangers -- he gets way too excited and can't control his urge to jump. I try to take him for a walk everyday -- today we went for 40 minutes and that was good for him. He and the old cat don't bother with each other at all. The young cat seems to dominate over Buster. Sometimes Buster gets trapped in a room because the cat is laying by the doorway. He seems to favor me as his "person" but likes to be with Dan and the kids too. So, I think we've all adapted OK with having a dog in our family!"

Update on Ginger!

Ginger loves a good hike!

 Ginger, formerly Candice, was adopted in July 2009!  She is daughter of Chloe, who came north this spring. 

"Ginger is doing really well and we just love her. She loves her runs and walks on the beach. She loves to lounge in the sun and chase the chipmunks out of the yard. When we go to my parents' lake house, she spends the day chasing the waves and "protecting" us from them (waves). :) We have been overall very happy with her and want to thank you again for rescuing her and bringing her up north!"

Beautiful Stout and Porter

This gorgeous duo were formerly Harvey and Henry, now renamed Stout and Porter.  Here's what their adopter has to say:  "The Pups are doing very well, continue to run on the treadmill ( which is a funny picture in itself ) and we bring them to our local day care at least
once a week, where they love them because they motivate the other dogs to play all day. We got really lucky with these two as they have the best
temperament and love being around each other and people!"

Bandita is such a wonderful dog! She is so full of life and even dances around when we return home.... wish we'd named her Prancer
or something to indicate this behavior! She loves our daily walks and has become close to all of us equally. I know that other dogs picked one favorite (pack leader) and the rest of us were second class, but not so w/ Bandita- she treats us all with the same love.  She is a very healthy dog and we can't imagine life without her. Thank you, Lucky Pup!"

We recently had an amazing day with Sara Moore, Animal Communicator and Reiki Master, at Seed and Bean in Kennebunk. She was able to talk to some of our current Lucky Pups and some of our favorite alumni and tell us important information about their past, present and future. Here are just a small number of highlights of what we learned:




~Buddy the chocolate lab would like a picture of himself with the family, as if he was an only dog.


~Olive may not be the largest dog in her pack, but she thinks she is! She'd like water with her food please.


~Jake would like a bench at the beach in his honor


~Gent would like us to write a book about how he got his spots, and he sees himself as an ambassador. And he loves pineapple!


~Roxi would not be so grouchy with new people if they would feed her marshmallows.


~Arlo prefers a midnight blue collar, and would like us to take him to watch trains.


~Maggie wants her college-age sister to go back to her old perfume and the old arrangement of her room at home.


~ Cookie would like a blue kiddie pool at her new home.


~ Trace would rather be called Jackson and he would like to live with a young girl around 7 named Alexis or something similar.


~Sara also talked to some former pets who have passed away and was able to reassure their families and tell favorite things about their time here. ~ A dog who is in pain gave us some ideas how to help him, and several of them talked about past scary experiences, which is helping us overcome those fears now.

Tipid (now Woodruff) Happy Ending Update

We checked in with Tipid's (now Woodruff's) adopter to see how he is doing and here is what she had to say:  "Woody, is wonderful!  According to the vet, he is in terriffic shape. He goes almost everywhere with me. He is very popular and well behaved at the yoga studio!"
