It's hard to go wrong with that!

Cori's Happy Ending

Cori - adopted November 2009

Zoey and Cori

I’m glad to tell you what a real joy she is. She is a silly, often quirky, girl, but also very obedient. She and Zoey are truly the best of friends and play together every day – sometimes just for a few minutes, sometimes all day.

Cori sometimes thinks that she needs to “protect” Zoey from the other dogs at day care – which is pretty funny since Cori weighs in at about 32 pounds and Zoey is somewhere just shy of 70 pounds and is quite capable of taking care of herself!  Our only issue with our typically sweet girl is that she has some difficulty with protecting our home from guests. I have hope though – one of the people that’s helped Lucky Pup with fundraisers is the pet psychic, Sara Moore; she did private “readings” with both Zoey and Cori last spring. She is AMAZING – and came up with some things that she could not have known – kind of spooky, actually. Our biggest issue at the time was that Cori was habitually eating rocks – once badly enough that surgical intervention was required (thank goodness for pet insurance!). We asked Sara to “tell” Cori that she had to stop with the rock eating – and I swear to God, since that day she hasn’t even gone near any “edible” rocks – truly an amazing feat! So, I’m hoping to hook up with Sara again soon and see what she might be able to “tell” Cori about people that we invite into our home – mostly the guys that come here.

She has really improved with her acceptance of our 2 cats – they now allow her to sniff them and she’s finally gotten the message that cats are NOT for chasing around the house.  She’s a really smart dog, so I have confidence that with some work, we can get her to at least be accepting of the people that visit us. The bottom line is that Cori does belong on the “happy tails” page; since 95% of the time it’s just us here at home, she’s a real sweet-pea and we are totally in love with her, and my husband and I are both really happy that we adopted her.

FOREVER DOG

Mighty Moe - not so "Mighty" now!

Mighty Moe's "Before" Picture
Mighty Moe's story shows how rescue can transform a dog's life - to know that he is now living a fit and healthy life makes us so very grateful for all of the folks who made this possible, from his rescuers, fosters and other volunteers, and his adopters.  THANK YOU!!!

"Mighty Moe is doing REALLY WONDERFUL!!! He is such a great dog! Its kind of hard to tell in the attached picture but Moe is down to 78lbs! He has lost 30 pounds since coming to Maine. What a difference it has made in him - he runs all the time now.

He really loves my 7 year-old daughter (we think he is most attached to her).  He plays with her outside and is so excited when she comes near him!

He is trying all sorts of "new" experiences - some with better luck than others. He went out on our boat a few times this summer and that took some getting used to, but we think he will do better now that he has lost weight.

We are working on socializing him around people and other dogs - he is absolutely terrified of small dogs and does okay around medium sized dogs, though he doesn't really know how to play- but he is learning (my sister has 2 Labrador pups that he visits with).

He really is a wonderful dog.  We've added to his name and now is is" Mighty Moejo Master" or "Moejo" for short.

I think he is finally comfortable that this is a truly safe place for him to relax, and most evenings that is precisely what he does next to us on the couch!

We can't thank your organization enough for giving us our Mighty Moejo; he is a special part of our family and we look forward to many good experiences with him!"

Markus - Why We Do Rescue

Markus was skin and bones when rescued.

Markus has filled out nicely in the loving care of his wonderful foster.

Beautiful Markus at his photo session.
Just in case anyone ever asks you why we do rescue, take a peek at these photos. The first picture is Markus when he came to us seven weeks ago - emaciated, sad but tail wagging.  The second picture is what his body looks like now.  The third picture is what his happy face and sleek coat looked like for his "glamour shots" with Joanne Lee.

We are so thankful for his amazing foster family, his savior ACO Kathy and all the folks who have supported Markus along the way.

Thank you all! A family is meeting Markus shortly so just maybe his "happy ending" is close at hand!
