Handsome Sonic!

Handsome Sonic was adopted in July 2010!  This lucky southern gent found a wonderful home in the northeast!

His foster mom has this to say:

"Sorry I haven't been in touch lately. Sonic's name has changed to Sheamus as of August, he is awesome. Weighs a healthy 70 lbs and is loving the new deep snow. We've gone on a lot of hiking and snow skiing adventures. Hope all is well. Sheamus says hi!

Sincerely,

Chelsea

Lexi Update!

Lexi was one of the pups the Lucky Pup volunteers drove to the south in February 2010 to get.  She was adopted in March 2010.

Hi Janet,

Hope you remember us. Here are some new pictures of Lexi (was Kelly).  We are almost at the 1 year mark that we have had her - next month we will hit it!

We love her so much. She is such a great dog and such a love bug. She loves our other dog, Chip, so much. They have so much fun in the fenced-in yard. She gets along with all dogs and people. We love to show her off. She brings such a smile to our faces. Thank you so much for rescuing her and for letting her be part of our family.

Pup Crawl and Light-up Leash

Each year, more than six million pets enter animal shelters in the United States. One million more pets will lose their homes to the financial crisis and will be cared for by shelters and rescues already hard hit by declines in adoptions and financial donations.  In 2009, 300 dog lovers and their 400 adorable pooches sprang into action to provide some assistance. Under cover of darkness, these pups and owners crossed the Brooklyn Bridge to illuminate the cause and raise money to help shelters and rescues provide for the additional pets under their care. That first “Pup Crawl” raised thousands of dollars for animal shelters and rescue groups in New York City, as well as Florida and California (two of the states hardest hit by the foreclosure crisis.)

The second Brooklyn Bridge Pup Crawl will take place on April 16, 2011 and we’re working to spread the puppy love to animal organizations across the country. This year, we’re thrilled to have The Humane Society of The United States on board as a partner to help draw attention to the impact of the financial crisis on our furry friends — and the organizations that are trying to protect them. And we’re also excited to invite any local non-profit animal organization in the country to benefit through sales of the new Pup Crawl Lights-Up Leash.
Here’s how you can help: Go to the link below, and purchase the light-up leash (7 color choices!). $3.00 from each leash will go to our rescue if you use this link. We would recommend getting together with some friends to purchase since you get free shipping if you order 5 or more, or donate a couple of the leashes to the rescue!
