Beautiful Sebastian!

This little guy needs a Valentine miracle!

His southern foster home says he needs to go, and he is a special needs case for sure. He has been through so much! Sebastian was probably the product of a backyard breeder or puppy mill that didn't know what they were doing. They bred two merle mini-aussies and that produces a genetically defective dog that is often blind, deaf or both. Sebastian is blind and is living in a foster home with way too many dogs, leaving him confused most of the time. He gets snarky with the other dogs because they bump into him or try to play and he doesn't understand. He is being crated most of the time which is making him hate the crate (who wouldn't?!)
He is just a precious boy at about 25 lbs, and he needs more 1:1 attention than he is getting, and would probably do great with just one other dog to help him "see" life from a doggy-size perspective. He gets along best with large female dogs. An ideal home would be with someone who has experience with blind dogs, Aussies, AND who is home alot of the time (we know it's a very tall order) OR someone who will love him enough to work through his issues and to seek help from experienced professionals.

The southern rescue has given Sebastian one last chance for freedom and a good life by sending him to us. We could not give up on this guy! He is not even two years old - he deserves a good long life in a loving home. Sebastian has a particular passion for water and even loves wading pools. Imagine if he had a family who would take him to a beach or lake in New England! He also loves to go on leash walks and does well in a fenced-in yard.

If you are not ready to foster or adopt Sebastian perhaps you could donate towards his transportation north and his care, particularly for a trainer to help us with his special needs related to blindness.

If you are looking to share the love this Valentine's Day, helping Sebastian would be a good start!

Sweetie Pie Megan!

Megan had a great time at Sooper Dogs in the kissing booth and just meeting everyone! She is pictured here with her foster mom Krystal - in just a short time in Maine, smarty-pants Megan has picked up so many commands and has conquered nervousness with stairs. She met some children on a walk and just couldn't love them up enough!

She is a doll!

Check out our good kissers!

How sweet are these two?

Brian is on the left and he is a 4 month puppy - his mom was a lab and we think he is mixed with catahoula or even aussie or cattle dog. He is absolutely gorgeous in person!

Megan, on the right, is also a beauty. She is a one year old hound/shepherd or even a rottweiler mix? She is as sweet as valentine candy! Both dogs did terrific meeting people and dogs of all sizes while at Sooper Dogs. Thank you to the amazing Sooper Dogs folks for hosting this adoption event and kissing booth for us! You can stop by any time during store hours from now til Valentine's Day for a photo and an entry into the "sloppiest kisser" contest. It costs just a $2.00 donation to our rescue, and they will even email you a picture at no extra charge!

For store hours or more info see http://www.sooperdogs.com/!

Sweet Little Emily!

Emily is about six months old and appears to be a lab/pit mix puppy. We think she will get a bit bigger - around 50 lbs or so but a nice medium size. Emily is doing fantastic in her foster home, even though all of her sisters have been adopted and she still awaits the perfect forever home. She does great in her crate and sleeps through the night. She is housetrained and is learning commands very well. Emily loves to jump straight up in the air like a kangaroo, all four paws leaving the ground (typical terrier behavior) when she is excited! When she plays with her foster dog siblings, she holds her own, and is a very determined little girl! She loves everyone, especially children, and plays politely with them. Emily is good on her leash and stays close to her human leader, not pulling or resisting. Although Emily initially had low resistance to the cold New England weather, she is adjusting well and will spend hours playing with her foster siblings in the snow in her new red sweater!

Emily has two favorite human playmates that are 4 and 6 years old. Emily is wonderful with them!! Emily's beautiful coloring doesn't show up in her pictures - her face and legs are tawny and black brindled. She plays well with other dogs. She is very outgoing with other dogs and has medium energy --she is not crazy active but can be restless if bored. In her mind there is no such think as too much attention from her human family. Emily is a super cutie!

Peaches is a sweet thing!

Peaches and her friends arrived today. Is she not beautiful?! She's a cute little beagle mix who is just waiting to be loved!

Old Lamar - you handsome thing you!

Old Lamar was the personality of the day! He is a loving, sweet pit boy who was rescued from certain death by the kind folks at a vet's office. He is ready to get out of a crate and into a loving home. Thanks to Jenny for the great photos from transport today!
